San Gimignano the city of beautiful towers

Unesco World Heritage

The historic center of San Gimignano, a UNESCO world heritage site, offers medieval masterpieces including the famous towers that still stand out over its panorama and which have earned it the definition of "Manhattan of the Middle Ages".

Don't miss an ice cream at Gelateria Dondoli in Piazza Duomo, one of the best ice cream shops in Italy, the purchase of Saffron and the typical white wine, the delicious Vernaccia di San Gimignano!

Of the 72 towers today 16 remain, the oldest is Torre Rognosa, 51 meters high, and the tallest is Torre del Podestà at 54 m. The heart of the town is Piazza del Duomo, full of buildings and palaces such as Palazzo Vecchio del Podestà and the Palazzo Comunale. The Cathedral instead preserves valuable works by great Tuscan artists.

Also important are the Etruscan Museum, the Art Gallery, the Wine Museum, the Museum of Sacred Art with important medieval religious finds.
